Fatal Injury Data by Urbanization Level Now Available

WISQARS logo

CDC recently updated WISQARS to include metropolitan versus non-metropolitan indicator variables based on urbanization level according to two classification schemes for fatal injury data. The WISQARS update allows users to query fatal injury data by county urbanization level. Urbanization levels are only available for data fitting under the ICD-10 coding classification. This covers data years 1999 to the most current year (2015).
The Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System (WISQARS) is an interactive, online database that provides fatal and nonfatal injury data from a variety of sources. Researchers, practitioners, the media, and the general public can use WISQARS data to learn more about the public health and economic burden of injury in the United States. Users can search, sort, and view the injury data and create reports, charts, maps, and slides.
