Updates to the CAHPS® Clinician & Group Survey 3.0

What’s New for the 3.0 Version of the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey?

The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ) has recently updated the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey (CG-CAHPS).

Updates to the Core Surveys
The CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey 3.0 includes updated core instruments for adult and child populations. Both instruments have fewer items than the previous version and include a new measure of care coordination.

The updated administration guidance includes a new protocol for using email to contact respondents.

Revisions to the Patient-Centered Medical Home Item SetThe 3.0 version of the optional Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Item Set is now available for both the Adult and Child Surveys. Ongoing Updates to Supplemental Survey Items 
The CAHPS Consortium is reviewing all supplemental items for CG-CAHPS to bring them into alignment with the 3.0 version of the survey. Groups of supplemental items will be released as soon as they are finalized.
