New National Quality Strategy Priority in Action: Reducing Disparities in HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment
A new Priority in Action is featured on the National Quality Strategy‘s (NQS) Web site. The Priorities in Action series features some of our nation's most promising and transformative quality improvement programs, and describes their alignment to the Strategy’s six priorities.
SisterLove, Inc. is a volunteer organization that works to reduce the adverse impacts of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health challenges on women of color in the Atlanta, Georgia area through educational programming about HIV/AIDS prevention, self-help, and safer-sex techniques. One of the organization’s longest-running interventions is the Healthy Love Workshop, which is a community-focused and community-responsive workshop that speaks to the realities of women of colors’ day-to-day lives, while incorporating the science of prevention to provide practical and innovative preventive strategies to help black women overcome challenges posed by the disease.
The organization promotes effective prevention and treatment of leading causes of morbidity and mortality, working with communities to promote best practices to enable healthy living, and person- and family-centered care through the NQS levers of Consumer Incentives and Benefit Designs and Innovation and Diffusion.
If your program aligns with one or more of the six priorities, email NQStrategy@ahrq.hhs.govwith details
